Whether it's a pick-up gig, studio work, a solo acoustic, or an occasion for him to bring along his band, The Dawg Brothers, The Salty Dawg's musical talents can be utilized to achieve a variety of goals.
Gary began working professionally at the age of sixteen, substituting for his guitar teacher at local clubs. His talents have since allowed him the opportunity to share the stage with an impressive list of notable musicians including, but not limited to, Hound Dog Taylor, Les McCann, Vernon Garrett, and Bill Black. Gary's soulful style and commanding stage presence earned him the nickname 'Salty Dawg' while playing the various haunts of Kansas City. The Salty Dawg not only experiences a signifcant following from local fans, but has also received various accolades throughout the years. In addition to winning awards from the St. Louis Music Contest in 1996 for two of his original songs, "The Tables Have Turned" and "Babay," Bruce Igliauer, President of Alligator Records, in response to a Salty Dawg demo, found Gary's music an "enjoyable surprise."
